The UX Conf

UX Conference Dashboard

Background

  • The school of UX hosts a UX conference every year. The host would like to visualize the registration status in the dashboard format. The data format is an Excel sheet drawn from their backend system.
  • This is one of the personal project cases of the seven-month UX Design Bootcamp.

My Role

  • I acted as the UX design role, gathering user requirements, understanding the business owner's needs, and handling visual design and prototyping.

Business Problems & Business Goals

Business Problems

  1. The curator uses an Excel spreadsheet to review the performance of the conference, which is time-demanding in digesting the data in every review.
  2. The curator would like to share the report with his sponsors, but currently, he lacks of tools to do it.

Business Goals

  1. Using a dashboard to present information clearly, with digested data in infographics showing or down-to-line records to facilitate their business studies.
  2. Providing export function under different dashboard tiles, make sure every export will have the same format, so the sponsors can keep track of the performance.

User Research

I did a short interview with the curator of the conference. Here are some of my questions.

  • Can you name the key business parameters you would like to observe?
  • Can you prioritize which are the key factors for you?
  • Do you have any targets that you would like to meet?
  • Do you need to share it with specific sponsors or vendors?
  • Will you use this dashboard on mobile devices?
  • Will you reuse the dashboard next year?
  • What kind of filter would you prefer?
